A little bit of Egypt there methinks g Some may recall that I went to Egypt in 2008 and commented on the liklihood of this occurring in my posts on the old TINO when I returned. The groundswell for change was very evident back then, and clearly long overdue. I'm taking it as a good sign that the military, who will ultimately decide how deadly this conflict will be, have not yet clearly shown their hand. If they decide not to back Mubarek, there may not be too much more blood spilled. Of course, who or what fills the power vacuum may yet give rise to the old cliche about the frying pan and the fire. I fear it may take quite some time for this to run its course.... |

The Egyptian military have pretty close connections with the US military with a lot of their training done in the US I believe..........No doubt the US is saying....Take it easy boys.

Our observations of the Egyptian military were literally the soles of their boots...everywhere there were guardhouses...usually with a pair of boots protruding as the guards slept !
I should clarify that the guardhouses were often little more than the size of an outdoor dunny...hence the soldiers legs protruding when he was lying down.

Boots! The Egyptians left them in the desert in 1967..........presumably one can run faster without them, though probably not fast enough to outpace an Israeli tank.
