AZM's drilling results this morning are not too shabby.
EXT off on possible t/over bid for major shareholder. Could be interesting as RIO has a substantial interest in EXT as well.
OGC pushed on a bit from yesterday.

If we needed confirmation that our market late is an indicator for the US overnight, we saw it yesterday.
Our market has been lethargic lately especially the big banks. But yesterday afternoon for no obvious reason, the banks came to life. Voila, this morning the US market is sharply higher led by the banks.
We've got plenty of catching up to do, especially in the big stocks popular with super funds, which have gone nowhere for a year. But scanning the papers today, it is obvious there are still plenty of bears around wary of the market. I'm having one of my best years, so I've not one of them.

This has placed DOW futures into a tailspin.
China reported an unexpected $7.3 billion trade deficit in February after a Lunar New Year holiday disrupted exports, the customs bureau said.
Today’s number compared with a $6.5 billion surplus in January. The median estimate in a Bloomberg News Survey of 21 economists was for a $4.9 billion surplus. Exports increased 2.4 percent from a year earlier and imports climbed 19.4 percent.
The nation’s first trade deficit since March last year may deflect international pressure for yuan gains after U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner repeated calls for a faster pace of appreciation. Commerce Minister Chen Deming said March 7 that it’s “totally unreasonable” to say the yuan is undervalued.

Interesting, an on-market takeover offer for MLI...I can't recall seeing an on-market takeover, not in recent times anyway.
The buyers broker is in the market for 100m shares at 8c, and already the punters are bidding above that, speculating for a higher offer, but with minimal risk I guess.
Anyone know the rules - once they have made the offer can they withdraw it within the offer period ?

Anyone know the rules - once they have made the offer can they withdraw it within the offer period ? Under the Corporations Act, the offer must remain open for the period. It would appear that the intention is to purchase a parcel held by another substantial shareholder and because he would then exceed 20% of the shares, the only way he can do that is by making an offer for all the shares. By making the full offer, he can sit on whatever holding he has at the end of the offer period or make it compulsory if he has more than 90%. Cheers CL
